I really wish I hadn't used QuickTax March 3, 2010 EB (Montreal, QC) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
QuickTax is worse and more expensive than ever. It gave me much grief this year. I recommend strongly that you look elsewhere. Really. It's "help" feature has never been good. It relies on a "community" of users who basically vent at each other about how lame it is. But this year was special. This year it generated redundant forms for my business, and then applied them to my Federal and Quebec returns. And if you try to override any of the results caused by their bugs, they won't let you use Netfile. But it mysteriously decided that a capital cost allowance on a laptop was worthy of being duplicated in its own business form, even though it was already on the correct business form. Oh, it also decided the apartment that I'm renting is a rental property that I own, and it generated forms for that too. And their "donation optimizer" really sucks. And I could go on, but I won't. Please buy something else. Really. I'm trying to help you. If your tax situation is simpler, it might actually work, but UFile or some other competitor would probably work too, and cost you less.
Makes taxes a pleasure. Almost. March 3, 2010 Jacob Kojfman (Toronto, ON, Canada) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a member of the Intuit QuickTax Inner Circle who has used QuickTax last year. Intuit asked for volunteers to write an objective review. This is my objective review.
I love using QuickTax. It makes the job of filing taxes so much easier, with the automatic calculations for medical expenses, T3, T4 and T5 and now with the import function for T slips, it just makes it that much easier. I love the RRSP maximizer function. It really helps for refund planning.
The product is easy to use, helps you get organized at the outset, and keeps things efficient. I can't compare it to other products because QuickTax is the only one I've used, but I like it a lot, and would recommend it to anyone.
Quick Tax makes your life easier February 17, 2010 Isabel F. S. Rigolet (Vancouver Canada) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a member of the Intuit QuickTax Inner Circle and have been using this product for several years. Intuit asked the members of the Inner Circle to write a review and I am pleased to do so. It makes an onerous task so easy. Quick Tax will keep your previous years' records so most of your information is already there and you just have to enter the new information. If your income tax situation is simple, you can be done in just a few minutes. I highly recommend this product.
Overpriced and ordinary February 17, 2010 G. Wong (Toronto, Canada) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
There's nothing much more special compared with other similar products out there. You can also purchase Ufile for half the price or even get the free StudioTax. Intuit pays its distributors more in order to get them to carry Quicktax almost exclusively.
Beats an Accountant February 2, 2010 Gregory Robinson (Victoria BC) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
For years I used an accountant to do my taxes. When he retired I thought I'd try doing it myself with Quicktax. 2010 will be my 4th year using the product. I find that I now spend less time completing my taxes than I use to spend preparing everything for an accountant.
I have found Quicktax straight forward and easy to use, and that's from someone who isn't all that computer literate.
